"…and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of crafts – to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and engage in all kinds of craftsmanship." Exodus 31:3-5

Samantha was born in the lovely land of enchantment on the eastern New Mexico plains in a little village known as Melrose. Growing up on the family farm she learned how to work hard, believe in herself and most importantly to be thankful for all the blessings in life. When Sam was sent out to quickly do the chores, her mother would find her hours later, lost in imagination talking to the chickens or creating a master piece of mud. Although the creativity continued, in college she choose to earn a B.S. in Family and Child Science at NMSU, where she met her best friend and husband, Bruce Odom. After a European summer of art and a year long apprenticeship, Samantha began her career in art. Her work has been featured in The Show Case of Homes, Ventanas, local businesses and restaurants as well as residential homes.
Design Process
|
The first step in my design process is to find my subject. Upon my first visit with a client, I listen and begin to visualize what they want and what the piece will mean to them. I like to see and feel the room where they want the artwork, asking how much time is spent in the room and what activities are carried out there. Are we enhancing coziness or presenting elegance? Do you want the piece to take you somewhere new, such as out of the desert to the beach in Costa Rica? |
| From there, I design a small scale drawing of what I am envisioning. The client and I discuss the design, creation process and time line so they are aware of the direction I am going, and alterations can be made as needed. Once the design is approved and a contract is signed, the project begins. |
